There were a few nice viewpoints today so I took long breaks at all of them. Pulpit Rock and the Pinnacle were pretty in the morning. It was cloudy with lowish humidity and relatively cool so it was a great day for hiking. A few miles of trail were on road beds so it was easy hiking too, for a while. The trail made up for that by getting really rocky for many miles afterwards.
I stopped at Allentown Hiking Club Shelter for dinner then just decided to stay because my feet were sore and it had been so rocky, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to find a campsite in the next few miles. It’s hard to plan distances in PA because I never know how bad the rocks will be and they slow me way down. Only 16.5 miles today but I am set up and in bed early. It feels like it’s going to be a chilly night so I have all my layers on.
